Apprentice Ironworker

I am an Apprentice Ironworker how do I get work out of Local 720?

Ironworking in Alberta is considered a COMPULSORY Trade, this means that anyone who does the duties of a Structural/Ornamental, Reinforcing or Generalist Ironworker in the province of Alberta must hold a Journeyman ticket or be a registered apprentice in the trade.  Journeyman and Apprentice credentials must be issued from a provincial authority or Government agency. A list of Journeyman and apprentice credentials that are accepted in Alberta can be viewed at:

The following steps outline the procedure to gain employment with local 720:

  1. Enter all of your trade and safety tickets on the Pre-qualification form available on our website. http://www.ironworkers720.com/travel-card-probationary-permit-pre-qualifying
    1. Apprentices must provide proof of their level of apprenticeship, this should include letters, transcripts and progression stamps issued from their provincial apprenticeship authority.
  2. Your pre-qualification application will be reviewed and if everything is correct you will be emailed a REFERENCE number.
    1. This reference number allows you to post in for any APPRENTICE jobs for your level that you see listed on our dispatch area of the website.  http://www.ironworkers720.com/job-postings1
  3. Apply for a job that you are interested in using the online POST IN form on our website.  This is where you will include your REFERENCE number.
