IRONWORKER REINFORCING UPGRADE COURSE
Course description:
This 24-hour course will cover an overview of the Ironworker Reinforcing Reference Manual. The duration of the program is 8 evenings at 3 hours per evening. (Refer to schedule below)
This course is designed to supplement a self-study style preparation for challenging the Alberta Journeyman Qualification Certificate Provincial Examination for the Ironworking Reinforcing.
Note: Individuals are responsible for accessing their understanding of the subject matter. Further assistance is available in the form of more focused instruction and supplementary study materials.
Course Objective:
The objective of this course is to supplement self-study preparation of the Ironworker to successfully write the Provincial Examination for Ironworking Reinforcing.
Learning Objectives:
Upon the successful completion of this course, the Ironworker should be able to understand principles in the following subjects:
- Basic Math
- Safety
- Concrete and Grout
- Rigging and Hoisting
- Reinforcing Steel (Rebar)
- Pre-stressing and Post-tensioning
Target Participants:
Individuals interested in earning their trade certification and/or wishing to upgrade their technical knowledge and job skills.
(Perfect Attendance and Punctuality is Mandatory)
Length of Course:
This course is 24 hours in length, 3 hours per night, 2 nights a week (Monday and Wednesday) from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Starting October 10th ending November 5th over 4 weeks.

Pre-requisites:
Member in good standing of Ironworkers Local 720
Minimum 4500 hours and 36 months work experience in Reinforcing sector

IRONWORKER STRUCTURAL/ORNAMENTAL UPGRADE COURSE
Course description:
This course is designed to supplement a self-study style preparation for challenging the Alberta Journeyman Qualification Certificate Provincial Examination for the Ironworker-Structural/Ornamental.
Note: Individuals are responsible for accessing their understanding of the subject matter. Further assistance is available in the form of more focused instruction and supplementary study materials.
Course Objective:
The objective of this course is to supplement self-study preparation of the Ironworker to successfully write the Provincial Examination for Ironworker-Structural/Ornamental.
This 42-hour course will cover an overview of the Ironworker Structural/Ornamental Reference Manual. The duration of the program is 14 evenings at 3 hours per evening. (Refer to schedule below)
Learning Objectives:
Upon the successful completion of this course, the Ironworker will have been introduced to:
- Basic Math
- Scaffolds
- Tools and Equipement
- Rigging and hoisting
- Robotics
- Conveyers
- Ornamental
- Curtian Wall
- Pre-engineered Buildings
- Oxy/Fuel Cutting Systems
- Welding
Target Participants:
Individuals interested in earning their trade certification and/or wishing to upgrade their technical knowledge and job skills.

Length of Course:
This course is 42 hours in length, 3 hours per night, 2 nights a week (Tuesday and Thursday) from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Starting October 9th ending November 22nd over 7 weeks.

Member in good standing of Ironworkers Local 720
Minimum 6750 hours and 54 months work experience in Structural/Ornamental sector
