E-Learning Rigger Training
The Alberta Ironworkers Apprenticeship and Training Plan has partnered with Industrial Training International to offer a collection of Online Rigging courses to our MEMBERS. Participants must complete the courses in the order they appear.
Courses Available:
Introduction to Rigging (4 hours)
This course is the quintessential introduction to crane and rigging activities throughout a bevy of industries, Identification, inspection, and basic theories are illustrated with video, flash, images, and interaction.

- Steel Slings
- Synthetic Slings
- Hitch Capacities
- Sling Protection
Signaling for Mobile & Overhead Cranes (4 Hours):
This course prepares personnel to work with and around mobile and overhead cranes, from communication and signaling, to crane dynamics and operations.
Course Contents:
- Crane operations
- Knots, Hitches, Taglines
- Hand Signals
- Voice Signals
Basic Rigging & Inspection (8 hours)
This course is designed to provide participants with a basic level of knowledge of rigging gear inspection, proper rigging procedures, and load control using typical rigging techniques.

- Rigging Selection
- Load Handling Activities
Advance Rigging (15 hours)
The Advanced Rigging Course provides workshop-based lessons to assist students in the calculations used in standard to complex rigging applications. Includes a downloadable student workbook.

- Center of Gravity
- Sling Tension
- Winches and Blocks
- Load Turning
- Levers, Jacking, & Rolling
- Chain Hoists/Load Drifting
- Off-Level Pick Points
