May 3, 2009 Wage Increase
To all Local 720 Brothers and Sisters,
I would like to inform you of the details that have transpired between all the Building Trades’ affiliates (ABTC) and our respective Registered Employers Organizations (REO). We were approached by one of the owners who asked the ABTC to consider not accepting the raises that are due with our current collective agreement. There were several meetings and quite a few different proposals forwarded and in the end all the ABTC affiliates sat down in Red Deer on March 25th and agreed to the following:
The May 3rd raise of 6.5% will be accepted in two installments. The first 3.25% will be on May 3, 2009 ($1.55) and the second will be November 1, 2009 ($1.54). The breakdown for Pension, Health & Welfare and Apprentice Fund will be shared with the membership at the upcoming meetings. This proposal was accepted by all the affiliates.
